Our previous studies have demonstrated that ribosomal component S6 is stored in the oocyte CPLs and peptidylarginine deiminase 6 (PADI6) is critical for CPLs formation. WebBy electron microscopy, we found that OOEP-deficient eggs lacked cytoskeletal sheets or oocyte cytoplasmic lattices (CPLs), which have long been predicted to function as a form of storage for components that are maternally contributed to the early embryo. Further analysis showed that OOEP was directly associated with the CPLs.
