Grain boundary creep
WebOct 6, 2024 · Formation of serrated boundaries during slow cooling and a resulting beneficial effect on the creep behavior have been reported for several Ni-base superalloys. [ 13, 14, 15, 16] The present results shows that grain boundary serrations can also form during low-temperature annealing. WebThis is probably associated with grain/interphase boundary sliding during creep strain and enhanced diffusivity along γ grain and γ / γ′ interphase boundaries. In addition, coarse carbides and primary γ′ phase can also promote pore nucleation ( Figure 8 b,d).

WebSep 11, 2009 · Also, orientation imaging microscopy (OIM) was used to characterize the grain boundaries in the vicinity of creep voids that develop during high-temperature creep tests (900 °C to 1000 °C at creep stresses ranging from 20 to 40 MPa) terminated at creep strains ranging from 5 to 40 pct. Preliminary analysis of the OIM data indicates voids … WebAug 1, 2009 · Below this temperature the activation energy is found to be near the value expected for grain-boundary self-diffusion, and the creep rate now varies inversely as …
